Ebook Samples
Role: Designer, Copy Editor
Goal: The purpose of the ebooks was to increase brand awareness, establish the business as thought leaders in the industry, and generate leads to nurture through the funnel. The content was expertly crafted and the design executed with care in order to offer value for the target audience.
Process: After the Content Director delivered her first draft, I proofread and copy edited the text, added imagery, and sent the documents to team leaders and the legal department for approval. In the interim, I downloaded industry ebooks and consulted my inspiration folder for themes and color palette inspiration. Once the content was approved, I experimented with text and image layouts, color, and cover designs. I sent three directions to stakeholders for approval, narrowed it down to one, and iterated according to their suggestions. I then finalized the design, reviewed for typos and errors, and sent for final approvals.
Results: Positive feedback from stakeholders, hundreds of downloads each.
Learnings:
• Get buy-in from major stakeholders earlier in the content approval process to avoid design delays later on
• Use single-page instead of spread when exporting ebooks
• Watch out for orphans at the end of paragraphs
